Today's post will be
about the video I recently watched "English lesson at the Żagle
school" in grade 0.
The lesson began with
the teacher asking the children to sit down. After a while, the teacher greeted
the boys, then carry out a short movement game with them. Then the teacher
showed the boys flashcards with animals and asked them what they saw on the
cards. He put the flashcards to the board and played "what's
missing?" with the children. The teacher took one card and the children
had to guess what picture was missing. The next exercise was playing a game.
The teacher divided the boys into two groups. The groups' task was to guess
what number or animal was on the card. Which group first guessed got a point. I
really enjoyed the activity of guessing which flashcards are missing, because
this activity not only exercises students' memory but also revises the vocabulary.
In my opinion, the teacher had a little discipline problem in class. It was
obvious that not all the boys were interested in the activities, they were
spinning and shouting. To calm down the boys, the teacher put his finger to his
lips and said „shhh” or clapped his hands. I think that the teacher didn't
quite manage the classroom management. I also really liked the fact that the
teacher used flashcards for tasks as well as the pitch board, which was
interesting. I believe that the teacher should also focus more on repeating the
vocabulary and paying more attention to discipline. However, I believe that the
teacher introduced a very good, dynamic and pleasant atmosphere.
